Some of our feelings before the Cross Country tomorrow...

It's finally here.  Cross country is tomorrow.  I'm in the red zone but I'm going to try and win the race.  I'm going to run up the hill.  I can't wait for it!   By Tylah

Cross country is tomorrow.  I feel like I'm going to win because last year I came second place.  When I get there I'm going to scream! I'm setting a goal to win the race.  I'm totally in the green zone and pushing myself forward to win tomorrow.  By Mel

I'm going to Halswell Quarry on the bus tomorrow, I feel ready to go.  I want to come first place.  I'm not scared of anything!  By Ava

The big day is coming tomorrow and I will be ready at Halswell Quarry and I will be racing everybody.  I hope I win and if I do I will be proud of myself and I will never give up.  By Ryan L

Halswell Quarry is going to be fun.  My Mum, Dad, Nana and Grandad are coming.  I can't believe it!  I want to come first.  I'm in the green zone and I want to do it now!  By Samantha

I can't wait to wear my Whanau t-shirt.  I am worried about the steep hill because I won't stop looking down from the hill.  My goal is to come first.  By Amber

School cross country is tomorrow.  I'm in the red zone just thinking about it.  I'm so nervous I just want to stay home.  I really want to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd because last year I came last.  By Ella

Flying Fish

The Dolphins reading group read the book called "The Flying Fish"

They decided that they would really like to make their own FLying Fish Kite.  They had to follow the instructions in their book.

Check out the wonderful kites that they made.

Here are Liam K, Ryan L, Lucy and Kiahla with their amazing flying fish.

Pattern Books

The Jellyfish reading group has been working on an independent activity after reading all about patterns. They decided they would like to create their own patterns, in and out of the classroom, and make a Book Creator story about them on the iPads.

Did You Ever?

We read the Poem 'Did You Ever?' written by Nathan Reed from Te Tii School.  We talked about what was happening in the poem, how it made us feel and how the words painted a picture in our minds of similar things we had done.

We used the pattern to write our own poems using our experiences and feelings. We are going to illustrate them for a class book.

Giraffe Art

We read the book 'All Afloat on Noah's Boat' written by Tony Milton.  We talked about all the different animals that went onto the ark and decided that the giraffe was our favourite.  This led us to painting our own super cool giraffes.  We mixed the colours of red and yellow to make the shade of orange that we wanted for our giraffes.

We are pretty proud of them and they have really brightened up our classroom walls too.  For those people that can't get into see them here they all are...
